Eastern Tribes Return Home
22 Then Joshua summoned the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh 2 and said to them, “You have done all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded, and you have obeyed me in everything I commanded. 3 For a long time now—to this very day—you have not deserted your fellow Israelites but have carried out the mission the Lord your God gave you. 4 Now that the Lord your God has given them rest as he promised, return to your homes in the land that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you on the other side of the Jordan.
These tribes were given land on the east side of the Jordan. They were asked to help the other tribes conquer the land on the west side before they could actually take time to settle down in their land. They diligently carried out their promise to help, and they were commended for their follow through on that promise. Do you follow through with duties that you need to do? Do you quit responsibilities before they are done? Follow through is a vital character building trait that is commendable. Work to finish any duties or responsibilities that you may have to finish. Do not leave God’s work undone. This is commendable and right.
