Sunday evening, March 15, I attended Winter Jam in Des Moines. Many things I appreciated about that evening:
- an opportunity to take a picture with Matthew West, Chris Tomlin and Katy Nichole
- resounding worship music
- the Holy Spirit power among thousands of people coming together in one space.
As I have reflected these past couple days on the Winter Jam event, I would say my top takeaway was the consistent message from the stage that we have an unbelievable FREEDOM available from Jesus Christ who has saved us. The musical artists, the hosts, the messaging all pointed in the direction of claiming the FREEDOM Christ provides us.
Katy Nichole’s story blew me away. She shared her personal struggles with panic attacks going back to when she was 9 years old. But … praise God she is experiencing freedom thru therapy, self-care and faith in Jesus Christ. That little lady packs a huge voice and a huge faith.
What is weighing you down? What is holding you back from experiencing freedom in Christ?
Spend time praying and reflecting with God and ask the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts. This takes guts; it takes commitment. AND … Satan absolutely hates us doing this heart work.
Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, You know the challenging habits, the unhealthy beliefs and the sneaky temptations that drag us down. Wrap us with Your presence as we choose Your way, Your truth, Your freedom. Amen!
