10 In a desert land he found him,
in a barren and howling waste.
He shielded him and cared for him;
he guarded him as the apple of his eye,
11 like an eagle that stirs up its nest
and hovers over its young,
that spreads its wings to catch them
and carries them aloft.
The Israelites had no excuse for abandoning God. What had he done for them? He had shielded them like a shepherd shields his flock of sheep, He had guarded them like a lion protecting her cubs. He had been an encircling protector like an eagle protecting her young. The Lord had led them on their journey. How quickly we can forget when things get good? How quickly we can forget when we try to do things on our own? How quickly we forget when we want things done on our timing. If you have abandoned God, stop and get him back into your life. The Lord will lead you if you let him. Look to him for guidance and leadership, as well as, remembering to trust him.
