Philippians 2:13 For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure.
God is the one who strengthens us to do what He has called us to do. We don’t do His work in our own strength; we need the strength of God. And He not only strengthens us, He also creates in us the willingness and desire to do what He has called us to. He has a purpose for our lives and puts in us a real desire and longing to carry out His will.
No matter how challenging or scary it may seem to us in carrying out God’s will, He is there with us equipping us, strengthening us and giving us the ability to do it. He doesn’t call us to something only to leave us alone, struggling to navigate our way through it. He’s right beside us helping us and, in the process, giving us the desire to pursue it and fulfill it. It becomes our passion and we are enthused, excited and energized, and we are ‘infused’ with power from on high. We can do all things that God has called us to do, through Christ who strengthens us.
Is there something you believe God is calling you to that seems a little scary or beyond your abilities? Do you feel like running away from it, hiding from it or ignoring it hoping it will go away? Commit it to the Lord and ask Him not only for His strength in doing it, but also for the willingness to say ‘yes’ to it and the courage to step out into that which He is calling you too. He has promised you that He will give you the desire to do His work, the strength to carry it out and the equipping so that you can accomplish it.
