Growing

by | Dec 1, 2022 | Vital Men Devotions

If someone asked you if you were still growing, what would you say?  First, we might make some joke about only gaining weight or getting shorter as we age, but then we might take a closer look at our lives and see if we are still growing in our knowledge or faith.  Hopefully, you are still learning new things, not just out of obligation for work or by following instructions when you need to assemble whatever arrived in a box, but out of desire to know and understand the world, history, or yourself and others.  There are more worthwhile things to learn than we could probably take in over 10 lifetimes, so we have to prioritize what we feed our mind that will make us a better version of ourselves.  The same with our faith.  What are we reading, doing, and listening to that helps us and others grow in our relationship with God and others?

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.    Hebrews 11:6

At what times in your life have you grown the most in your faith?  Maybe it was as a child or young adult, when you started to fully grasp what God has done for us through Christ.  Maybe it was when you were older and actively engaged in a ministry that helped you and others grow significantly.  Whatever time that was, what things were you doing that helped you grow and thrive the most in your faith?  Are you still doing any of those things today?  We all have different times and seasons in our lives when things change with our jobs, families, or where we are living which impact our opportunities to grow and help others do the same.  But even if it is not the exact same thing we did before, we should still be able to find activities that are building us up more than detrimental to our faith or lives.  May you still make room in your life for those things that are good, and help you grow, and allow us to encourage others in their faith as well.  May we never get tired or discouraged when we are in a dry season, but seek the Living Water than restores our souls when we find it!

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.  John 15:5

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.    2 Peter 3:18

Yours in Christ,
Clark
