The time has come once again. My annual pilgrimage to the beautiful and remote alpine wilderness of the Rockies. This year is a little different than usual. For one, I’m in pursuit of mule deer. For another, I’m headed out solo. I don’t do that often, but this is a tag that took 7 years to draw. Did you notice that I said, “headed out solo” and not “alone”. That was intentional, for I will not be alone. The Lord goes before me. As Jesus routinely demonstrated, communing alone with God is necessary. As for me, I can figure no better way to do that than to climb to 12000 feet atop God’s creation with God, my thoughts, scripture and the wilds.
Now, with that said, I have to say that I do not spend nearly a fraction of the time alone with God as I need to. How about you? We don’t have to climb to the top of a mountain. We just need to be intentional, find a quiet spot, without interruption and dedicate ourselves to spending time with the ONE person we should desire to do so with above all others! Make the time, desire the time and make it so. Have a blessed weekend.
