Help Others Even If It Is of No Benefit to You

15 Then Gideon came and said to the men of Sukkoth, “Here are Zebah and Zalmunna, about whom you taunted me by saying, ‘Do you already have the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna in your possession? Why should we give bread to your exhausted men?’” 16 He took the elders of the town and taught the men of Sukkoth a lesson by punishing them with desert thorns and briers. 17 He also pulled down the tower of Peniel and killed the men of the town.

The leaders from Succoth did not help Gideon. Gideon was God’s appointed leader. The leaders of Succoth refused help because they feared the enemy. They had no faith nor respect for God, and they did not respect Gideon. It is important to help those working for God. We should help because it is the right thing to do. Helping is important whether you benefit personally or not. Do it because it is right.
