8 Her husband Elkanah would say to her, “Hannah, why are you weeping? Why don’t you eat? Why are you downhearted? Don’t I mean more to you than ten sons?”
Hanna knew her husband loved her, but even his encouragement did not help her. She kept replaying the jeers and eroding words from Peninnah. You will have people criticize you. You will have people try to erode your self worth. These people are out there. You can choose how you will respond to this. How will you maintain your self-confidence? Who’s words do you value? Do you value what God says about you, or do you value what people who do not have your best interest in mind say about you? Enjoy your loving relationship with God and enjoy the loving people whom God has placed in your life. When you do this, you ward off eroding words, and you build hope.
