Yesterday was Inauguration Day in the United States. Every four years the U.S. President is inaugurated on January 20. As Americans we recognized the structured process yesterday as Donald Trump was formally admitted to his office.
The word “inauguration” is also defined as “a ceremony to mark the beginning of something.” I’ve been pondering the word inauguration over these past couple weeks as we step further into January and the beginning of a new year.
As followers of Jesus we periodically claim opportunities for new beginnings, for a restart, for a redefining.
Paul shared these words in Philippians 3:3-14 (NIV): Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But ONE THING I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Brothers, what is your “ONE THING” for this Inauguration Day? What will you claim as your FOCUS for 2025? Perhaps the Holy Spirit has been speaking ONE WORD into you for these next 12 months.
Get quiet with God sometime today to process what He is calling you to focus on.
