Job 2:4-5 New International Version (NIV)
4 “Skin for skin!” Satan replied. “A man will give all he has for his own life. 5 But now stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse you to your face.”
‘Skin for skin’ was what Satan wanted concerning Job’s response to the loss of his family. Satan still held to his opinion. This opinion was that Job was only faithful because God had blessed his life. Also, Satan believed that Job would curse God if he was affected physically, so he wanted physical suffering to happen to Job on top of losing his family and property. Little did he know, that Job would never curse God, and Job’s relationship with God would be strengthened, as well as, Job would have a long, blessed life after. Remember Job when you are going through difficult times. Just trust God. He is your loving Father, and he knows you.
