Genesis 3:1 New International Version (NIV)
The Fall
3 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”
Satan disguised himself as a shrewd serpent. He came with the purpose to tempt Eve. There was a time when Satan had been an angel, but in his pride he rebelled against God. He was cast out of Heaven. He is a created being and has limitations. God is the Creator and has no limitations. God is the Beginning and the End. He is the Alpha and Omega. How wonderful to be one of God’s people. Satan tries to tempt everyone away from God. He works in this world to put doubt in our paths. The enemy is shrewd and relentless. But, how much more we have in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jesus crushed the head of the serpent in the Garden of Gethsemane to show us that he, in fact, has crushed Satan. Use God’s Word to refute Satan. God’s word is a sword and will cut down any attempt to tempt you. Keep your eyes upon Jesus. Satan is not the final victor. God promises that Satan has been crushed by the Messiah, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
