Life is CRAZY busy. It’s non-stop. What in the world are you talking about with carving out time to just be quiet?
We follow the Jesus Way. Jesus took time for solitude … to talk with His Father. Regular time with God is TRULY transformative.
I’m getting personal here, brothers. I was so addicted to my cell phone six years ago. When my world fell apart due to my financial fraud in 2019, solitude was forced on me the day I was indicted at the federal courthouse downtown Des Moines. I sat in a prison cell for three hours without my cell phone. Guess what? It forced me to get real with God and talk with Him.
God’s plan for me to be in federal prison for three years was a season of forced solitude. No cell phone. No internet access. But … time with God! Truly transformational.
Mark 1:35 (NIV): Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.
Blanchard, Hodges and Hendry in “Lead Like Jesus” identify experiencing solitude as another one of the BEING habits of Jesus. it was an integral strategic component of His leadership. Check out these additional passages: Matthew 4:1-11; Luke 6:12-13; Matthew 14:13; Matthew 14:23
