Blanchard, Hodges and Hendry spend a number of chapters in “Lead Like Jesus” talking about the hands of Jesus. As we review stories of Jesus, we recollect so many examples of how Jesus heals, blesses and extends mercy thru his hands. Repeatedly, Jesus shows his love and compassion thru his hands. Matthew 19:13-15 (Jesus Blesses Little Children) carries so much meaning in just 3 verses.
Matthew 19:13-15 (NIV): Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked these who brought them. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” When he had placed his hands on them, he went up from there.
The song “Hands of Jesus” by Crowder is so powerful and meaningful. Reflect on the words of the song:
Mom and Dad with a little child
Hand in hand for a little while
Hands hammering nails in wood
Wonder if he understood
They’d soon be open, vulnerable
Son of God but somehow fully man
So precious and strong
They can calm the seas
They can right your wrongs
The hands of Jesus
Holding everything
If they can take a nail
They can take your shame
So bring your hurt and
All your broken pieces
And put them in the miracle-working hands of Jesus
Loving the unlovable
Forgiving unforgivable
Pick up a cross that should be mine
Arms open, palms stretched wide
So precious and strong
They can calm the seas
They can right your wrongs
The hands of Jesus
Holding everything
If they can take a nail
They can take your shame
So bring your hurt and
All your broken pieces
And put them in the miracle-working hands of Jesus
Taking me in just as I am
All of me, all I have
All I need is in the hands
So precious and strong
They can calm the seas
They can right your wrongs
The hands of Jesus
Holding everything
If they can take a nail
They can take your shame
So bring your hurt and
All your broken pieces
And put them in the miracle-working hands of Jesus
Men – I ask you to also listen to Crowder’s song (Hands of Jesus) today. Maybe listen to it on repeat several times over. Let the significance of the transforming power of Jesus’ hands resonate in your soul.
