Lead Like Jesus – Part Fourteen … Maintaining Supportive Relationships

by | Jun 3, 2025 | Vital Men Devotions

Ecclesiastes 4:12 (NIV) Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

Blanchard, Hodges and Hendry in “Lead Like Jesus” cap off the five BEING habits of Jesus by referencing His supportive relationships with His 12 disciples and His inner circle of Peter, James and John. The authors ask some direct questions for us to assess our relationships: Do we have Truth Tellers in our lives? Do we regularly engage with small group fellowship that includes individuals who love us enough to tell us what we need to hear? What are we doing to nurture and strengthen these special relationships?

The authors also shared some solid inner-circle accountability questions:

Where do you see or sense God at work in your life right now?

What truth, command, or redirection has God been making clear to you lately?

What is something you need to START doing? What’s holding you back?

What is something you need to STOP doing? What’s keeping you from stopping?

What gaps – if any – exist between your saying and your doing?

Men – let’s dig in with each other. God will show up consistently as we engage the five BEING habits of accepting and abiding in God’s unconditional love; experiencing solitude; practicing prayer; knowing and applying Scripture; maintaining supportive relationships.
