Numbers 22:20-23 New International Version (NIV)
20 That night God came to Balaam and said, “Since these men have come to summon you, go with them, but do only what I tell you.”
Balaam’s Donkey
21 Balaam got up in the morning, saddled his donkey and went with the Moabite officials. 22 But God was very angry when he went, and the angel of the Lord stood in the road to oppose him. Balaam was riding on his donkey, and his two servants were with him. 23 When the donkey saw the angel of the Lord standing in the road with a drawn sword in his hand, it turned off the road into a field. Balaam beat it to get it back on the road.
God was angry with Balaam’s greedy attitude Balaam said he would not go against God for money, but he was weakening by the temptation. Wealth was blinding him. God was using the donkey to stop Balaam, but he was so blind he could not see it. Are there things in your life that blind you? You may know what God wants you to do, but you don’t want to see it, or you are caught up in sin that you are blinded. Work to avoid these mistakes. Look past the allure of your weakness, see it for what it is, and look to the long range benefits in following God’s plan for you.
