Matthew 6:7-15 New International Version (NIV)
7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
God’s name is Holy, Holy, Holy. It is God’s will that will be done here on Earth and in Heaven. We can ask daily to have our needs met. We ask to be forgiven for our wrong doings and we must forgive others who have done us wrong. We ask to be given strength to keep out of temptations and from moving toward sinning. God does not tempt us. We choose to do the wrong thing, so we must work with the Holy Spirit, Jesus, and the Lord to choose right. We ask for protection from evil. We pray for a hedge of protection. We pray for God’s hand in our lives.
My Father, who is in Heaven. Hallowed be His Name. His Kingdom come, His will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give me this day, my daily bread. Forgive me for my sins, as I forgive those who sin against me. Lead me not into temptation, but deliver me from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory forever and ever. Amen.
