Numbers 6:24-25New Living Translation (NLT)
24 ‘May the Lord bless you
and protect you.
25 May the Lord smile on you
and be gracious to you.
For some of you, this song will bring back memories and for others, you might be thinking, ‘What?’. Back in 1966, a group called ‘The Mamas and The Papas” recorded a song called, Monday, Monday.
The first part of the song goes like this:
Monday, Monday, so good to me,
Monday mornin’, it was all I hoped it would be,
Oh, Monday mornin’, Monday mornin’ couldn’t guarantee,
That Monday evenin’, you would still be here with me.
This Monday, today, I will do a funeral for a 55 year old man who passed with cancer. His life was cut short due to the illness in his body. There are no more Monday mornings for his life on earth. His life is now complete.
You might be thinking to yourself, ‘Okay, so how is this spiritual?’ Good question. There are no guarantees in life on earth at our ending. God knows our beginnings and our ends. My hope is for us to think of each day as a gift from the Lord.
Today is Monday, Monday. In the part of the song is says, ‘But Monday mornin’, Monday mornin’ couldn’t guarantee.’ What is guaranteed is best said in Psalms 118:24, ‘This is the day that the Lord had made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
For us who receive today as a gift, let your ‘Monday, Monday, so good to me’.
Strength and Courage
