‘By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And by the breath of His mouth all their host. He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up the deeps in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the Lord ; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast. The Lord nullifies the counsel of the nations; He frustrates the plans of the peoples. The counsel of the Lord stands forever, The plans of His heart from generation to generation. Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord , The people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance. ‘ Psalms 33:6-12
I had the opportunity for conversation with my good friend Pastor Jeff Rabe, of Freedom Fellowship of Indianola, this week. As always, it was a good one, and, as always, it spurred contemplation. At one point the conversation turned to God’s word and the Truth, that He and His word is unchanging.
I thought about that a great deal this week. People change. The way we process, interpret and apply God’s word changes. But, His Truth never does. How perfect is God’s word?! We are constantly being changed throughout our life experiences. Yet, through it all, God’s word is so perfect to apply to us throughout every stage. Even though our experiences change our perspective and perceptions, God’s word still penetrates, unwavering. The same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Again I ask, how perfect is His word!
It is imperative that we seek to know His word as well as is possible.
‘Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them. ‘ Romans 16:17
Daily you will find people teaching things that are contrary to the scripture. The only way to guard against false teachings is to, ourselves, be familiar.
‘Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. ‘ Matthew 24:35
Search God’s word, meditate on it and internalize it. It always was and always will be. It never changes, but the impact on our lives and through us the impact God would see in others is endless. What peace and comfort is found in His Truth. Contemplate on that and have a blessed weekend!
