8 Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Take the whole army with you, and go up and attack Ai. For I have delivered into your hands the king of Ai, his people, his city and his land.
Joshua prepared to attack Ai after Israel was cleansed from sin. This time they would defeat Ai. What can you learn from this situation? First, when God reveals your sin to you, confess it to him. Next, after you fail, deal with the problem and refocus on God. The cycle of sin, repentance, and forgiveness strengthens you. It does not weaken you. The lessons you learn from your failures will make you better to handle the same situation. You get stronger and stronger, until you overcome. But, it is important that when you overcome, that you continue to keep your eyes on God, so temptation will not lead to sin. Temptation is not a sin.
