Psalm 23:3 He refreshes and restores my soul (life); He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
God’s rest and refreshment brings restoration to our souls. As we commune with Him and rest in His presence, we not only are refreshed in Him, but we are restored—made whole. God takes what is broken and lovingly restores it to ‘better than new’. That’s what He does with each one of us.
We must allow Him to lead us in the path of righteousness so that our walk brings honor to His name. God will always lead us in the paths of righteousness—the way in which we should walk. He will never lead us astray—in this we can have confident trust.
We do not have our own righteousness, for self-righteousness is as “filthy rags” to the Lord. We must take off the old rags of self-righteousness and allow God to clothe us with the robe of Christ’s righteousness, because Christ’s righteousness is a perfect fit and looks beautiful on us in the Father’s eyes. Remember, we bear His name, so we must bring honor to His name with our lives.
