Scripture:

Lesson:
Once we admit that by ourselves we are powerless, we can stop living with the following “peace robbers” in the acrostic for POWERLESS.
P: Pride
Ignorance + power + pride = a deadly mixture
O: Only Ifs
Our “only ifs” in life keep us trapped in the fantasyland of rationalization!
W: Worry
Worry steals our peace and doesn’t fix our problems.
E: Escape
When we live in denial, we escape into a world of fantasy and unrealistic expectations of ourselves and others.
R: Resentments
Resentments can become like an emotional cancer if we allow them to fester and grow.
L: Loneliness
In Christ and in your recovery journey, you never have to walk alone.
E: Emptiness
When you feel empty inside, you start feeling hopeless.
S: Selfishness
When we pray, we often ask God to give me, give me, give me.
S: Separation
Some people talk about finding God, as if He could ever get lost!
Life Application:
Ephesians 6:12 tells us, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Because of this, we truly are powerless to overcome our hurts, habits, and hang-ups with our own power. But victory has already been won by Jesus Christ. Bring your hurts, habits, and hang-ups to the foot of the cross and fully submit to Christ’s will in your life. His yoke truly is easy, and his burden is light.
