James 4:8-17New Living Translation (NLT)

⁸ Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.⁹ Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy. ¹⁰ Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.

 Dear Father, I want to come close to you. You say when I come close to you, you will come close to me. I want to wash my hands of impurity. Forgive me for my sins. I want a pure heart. May I be loyal to my Lord God. I do not want my loyalty to be divided. May I have full loyalty to my Lord God. When I make mistakes and sin, I have true sorrow and deep grief. May I humble myself to my Lord and Savior. When I am humble, I will be lifted up in honor. Thank you. In Jesus’ Name I Pray, Amen.
