Lesson:
What does it mean to be READY to have God remove our character defects?
R: Release Control
God doesn’t force His will on you. He waits for you to invite Him in! Now you need to be entirely ready and willing to let God into EVERY area of your life.
E: Easy Does It
These are not quick fixes! You need to allow time for God to work in your life. It takes time to find healing!
A: Accept the Change
Seeing the need for change and allowing the change to occur are two different things. You need to be ready to accept God’s help throughout this transition.
D: Do Replace Your Character Defects
You have spent a lot of time with your old hurts, hang-ups, compulsions, obsessions, and habits. When God removes one, replace it with something positive. This can include time with God, recovery meetings, church, and/or serving.
Y: Yield to Growth
Your old self-doubts and low self-esteem may tell you that you are not worthy of the growth and progress you are making. Yield to the growth-is is the Holy Spirit’s work within you.
Prayer:
Dear God, thank You for taking me this far in my recovery journey. Now I pray for Your help in making me be entirely ready to change all of my hang-ups and habits. Give me the strength to deal with all that I have turned over to You. Allow me to accept all the changes that You want to make in me. Help me be the person that You want me to be. In Your Son’s name I pray, Amen!
*Celebrate Recovery meets Tuesday nights at the McVay Family Center in New Sharon. This is a safe place to find honesty, hope, and healing. The meal starts at 6 pm, and a lesson/testimony begins at 6:30 pm. Childcare is provided for kids 12 and under. Hope to see you there!
