Exodus 16:32 New International Version (NIV)
32 Moses said, “This is what the Lord has commanded: ‘Take an omer of manna and keep it for the generations to come, so they can see the bread I gave you to eat in the wilderness when I brought you out of Egypt.’”
The Hebrews put some manna in a special jar as a reminder of the way God provided for them in the wilderness. Symbols have always been an important part of Christian worship. Special objects can remind us of God’s work. These symbols can be a valuable help in worship, but they should never become objects of worship. The cross is a reminder of what Jesus did for us. He died on the cross, so that anyone who believes in Jesus and confesses that Jesus is Lord and Savior, shall be saved.
