12 He said to them, “You are the heads of the Levitical families; you and your fellow Levites are to consecrate yourselves and bring up the ark of the Lord, the God of Israel, to the place I have prepared for it. 13 It was because you, the Levites, did not bring it up the first time that the Lord our God broke out in anger against us. We did not inquire of him about how to do it in the prescribed way.” 14 So the priests and Levites consecrated themselves in order to bring up the ark of the Lord, the God of Israel. 15 And the Levites carried the ark of God with the poles on their shoulders, as Moses had commanded in accordance with the word of the Lord.
When David first tried to move the Ark, he did not find out how to move it correctly. He just moved ahead and did it without seeking guidance. He learned an important lesson. This time, David made sure to follow the directions for moving the Ark of the Covenant. God gives us commands for a reason. He is not just putting out regulations to hinder us or ruin our fun or make us miserable. God has laws and commands for our well being. God has plans to prosper you, give you hope, and give you a future. He does not want harm to come to you. You may not fully understand the reasons behind God’s commands, but you do know his wisdom is complete. His judgement is infallible. How do you know God’s instructions in your life? Read his Word. As you grow and mature, you will learn and grow. You may not understand many things in this life, but it is far better to obey first than to go through unpleasant consequences to a poorly thought out plan or impulsive plan. Take time to seek guidance when making decisions.
