Deuteronomy 4:9 New International Version (NIV)
9 Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.
Moses wanted the people to remember what God had done. He urged parents to teach their children about the miracles that God had done for them. By telling the stories to the children, this would also help the parents remember God’s faithfulness and provision. Do you forget how God has worked in your life? Passing on stories from one generation to the next helps us remember God’s great acts. You can remember God’s great acts in your life by telling your children, friends, or coworkers what you have seen him do in your life.
