8 Then David was angry because the Lord’s wrath had broken out against Uzzah, and to this day that place is called Perez Uzzah.
9 David was afraid of the Lord that day and said, “How can the ark of the Lord ever come to me?” 10 He was not willing to take the ark of the Lord to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. 11 The ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite for three months, and the Lord blessed him and his entire household.
David was angry at God and himself. A well meaning man had been killed, and the plans for a joyous return of the Ark had been spoiled. David knew he was at fault for not making sure the Ark was transported according to God’s commands, but he was still angry with God. David had not shown respect for God’s holiness. He decided to wait on God, so he put the Ark in storage to see if God would allow him to bring the Ark to Jerusalem. This also gave David time to work out his anger with God and also see if Obed-Edom was blessed. God’s blessing on Obed-Edom’s home was a sign to David that the Ark could be moved to Jerusalem. Life may seem unfair at times and bad things happen to good people. We will never know why in this lifetime, but rest assured that God is in control. As a believer you can know that you have your life here on earth, but you also have eternity with Jesus in Heaven after this life.
