Numbers 11:4-6 New International Version (NIV)
Quail From the Lord
4 The rabble with them began to crave other food, and again the Israelites started wailing and said, “If only we had meat to eat! 5 We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost—also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic. 6 But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna!”
Dissatisfaction comes when attention shifts from what you have to what you do not have. The Israelites took their eyes off what was being provided and began to look at what they did not have. They had freedom. They were becoming a nation. They were to receive a new land. They were being fed. All they could think about was the food they did not have that they had in Egypt. Then they forgot about the harshness of slavery that took place. Take a look at your own life. Are you grateful for what you have been given? Remember God’s gifts to you and focus on what you have and have a thankful heart.
