1 Corinthians 5:13New International Version (NIV)
13 God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.”
What is the bad in my life that I need to adjust or get rid of? This is a great question, but what is the bad in a man’s life? It can often be the people we hang out with. They can affect our attitudes, opinions, and cause bad influences in our life. It directly affects our behavior.
As my dad always reminded me as I was growing up, if you lie with dogs you get fleas. He is right. My dad knows this because of the people he used to hang around with when he was a young man.
My dad worked construction all of his life. When he was younger, the men he hung out with influenced him to go to the bars after work to drink. Eventually, this bad behavior caught up with him, and he eventually became an alcoholic. He almost lost his family over it. This was all because of bad company.
Later in years, dad had to deal with his bad, the alcohol. He allowed a Pastor of a local church who was a good man who cared for him to influence him to make a change in his life.
Dad still reminds me today to keep good company and to be a person of affluence rather than a person who gets influenced. I want you to think of bad company this way. If you run with turkeys, you become one, but if you fly like an eagle, you will lead like one.
Which choice of influence will you make?
Strength and Courage
