1 Chronicles 29:19New Living Translation (NLT)
19 Give my son Solomon the wholehearted desire to obey all your commands, laws, and decrees, and to do everything necessary to build this Temple, for which I have made these preparations.”
King David prayed this prayer to God in hopes that Solomon would chase after God like he did. In order to chase God you have to pursue him. It begins with a choice and that choice moves to action.
King David was a father wanting a son to live for God. King David was not an absent father in the life of his son, Solomon. David knew that his life had to be an example for his son.
How about us as fathers? Do we lead by example or do we show passivity in raising our kids, even to the point of being absent. According to our guest speaker, Chuck Holton, the average male spends 11 years in front of the television. The average 30 year old male spends more time playing video games that a 12 year old boy. What kind of manhood are we showing our children?
I look forward to hearing Chuck’s words on raising boys into manhood. September 14 at the Pella Christian High School will be a night of potential change for all men and boys who enter the doors. The biggest step will be for you to make the time. We have set the date. Do NOT miss the moment.
Strength and Courage
