Luke 8:17 New International Version (NIV)
17 For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.
This year I have been asked to be the Chaplain for the Newton Cardinals Football Team. Coach Ed asked me to speak to the young men before they take the field every Friday night. I love to speak to them before they take the field about the game of football. I share with them how following Christ will lead them to be better men on and off the field.
Our opening week I gave them the word ‘Character’. I shared with them this statement: ‘Giftedness will get you to the top of your game, But ‘Character’ is what keeps you there. We talked about character and that nothing was hidden on and off the football field.
The same reflects in life. Giftedness will get you on the top of your game in your career, but only character will hold you there. Men, nothing is hidden from the Lord. He placed kings to rule and men to lead. He will see if your character is proven or not.
I like this verse about character in 1 Corinthians 3:13, “13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work.”
This is a powerful verse.
