20 But one son of Ahimelek son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled to join David.
Abiathar escaped to David. Saul, in his rage, had killed all the priests, except one. Abiathar joined David. They had maybe thought all was lost, but it was not. Saul tried to destroy Israel’s priesthood, but God had a plan. When David became king, he installed Abiathar as the new high priest. He remained in this position during David’s entire reign. When you think all is lost, keep your faith. Know that all things are in God’s hands and even when you see no ray of hope, hold on to your faith. God will prevail. Good will triumph over evil.
