Deuteronomy 13:1-3
New International Version
13 If a prophet, or one who foretells by dreams, appears among you and announces to you a sign or wonder, 2 and if the sign or wonder spoken of takes place, and the prophet says, “Let us follow other gods” (gods you have not known) “and let us worship them,” 3 you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The Lord your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul.
Attractive leaders are not always lead by God. Moses warned the Israelites against false prophets who encouraged worship of other gods. New ideas may sound good, and the person may be inspiring, but make sure what you are hearing is consistent with God’s Word. Look for truth. Is the focus on God? Make sure you are being directed toward God. God is not against new ideas, but be aware of false prophets. They are around today, as well. Be a wise person and carefully test ideas against the Truth of God’s Word.
