Psalm 141:1-3
New International Version
1 I call to you, Lord, come quickly to me;
hear me when I call to you.
2 May my prayer be set before you like incense;
may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.
3 Set a guard over my mouth, Lord;
keep watch over the door of my lips.
On the average, a person opens the mouth to speak approximately 700 times a day. David asked God to keep him from speaking evil even when he was being persecuted. Jesus himself was silent before His accusers. Ask God to guard what you say so that your words will bring honor to his name.
