Psalms 119:9-11 (NKJV)
How can a young man cleanse his way?
By taking heed according to Your word.
10 With my whole heart I have sought You;
Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!
11 Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You.
Everyone falls short of God’s righteousness. Plain and simple. If we could manage perfect living on our own, we wouldn’t have needed Jesus’ intercession. We can strive to live better, though, and God has provided the instruction manual.
Psalms 119 highlights for us the importance of God’s word. Verse 9 asks the question,”How can a young man cleanse his way?” Simple, God’s word.
If you choose to follow Jesus Christ, want a deeper relationship with Him and want to experience true Christ empowered change in your life, it is unequivocally necessary to immerse yourself in His word.
“With my whole heart I have sought You.” It takes an intentional, disciplined approach. To love God, as well as to fully grasp the depth of His love for you… His heart, you must seek Him out, pursue Him. Discipline yourself to daily prayer and meditation. Read His word, hunger for it, devour His teachings.
“Your word I have hidden in my heart.” Not only read through God’s word, meditate on it, internalize it, memorize it. Hide it in your heart, so that wherever, whenever you find yourself, God’s word is embedded within you. You will carry it with you and it WILL guide your steps. God’s word will increasingly equip you to battle the forces of the world that tear at us, daily.
Surrendering yourself to God’s authority, following Jesus Christ requires discipline and intentional action on our parts. Love Him? Seek Him. Have a safe and Blessed weekend.
Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
