13 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.
I often get asked, “How do I become a godly man?” Obviously, according to the Bible there is nothing good in us outside of Christ. God is the only thing that is good or capable of being good. All this is true, but I do believe we can become a godly man. Here are 5 ways to become that man.
- Step Up, Lead, and Initate
God is looking for good men who will stand in the gap. Ezekiel 22:30 says, ‘I searched for a man among them who wold build up the wall and stand in the gap before me for the Lord, so that I would not destroy it, but I found no one.’
2. Speak Out: Silence in the Midst of Sin Is a Sin – Be Courageous
God is looking for men who will speak truth in love. The Bible says in Proverbs 27:5-6, ‘Better is open rebuke that love that is concealed. Faithful are the words of a friend, but deceitful are the kisses of an enemy.’
3. Stand Strong: Do Not Give in When You Are Challenged, Attacked, Or Criticized
God is looking for men who will stand strong. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:58, ‘Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain.’
4. Stay Humble: Be Vigilant Against Pride
Godly men stay humble. The fight against selfish pride. The Bible says in 1 Peter 5:5-7, ‘You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he might exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you.’
5. Serve the King: Seek, First His Kingdom, His Glory, and His Righteousness
Godly men serve the Risen King, Jesus. The Bible says in Matthew 6:33, ‘But seek first his Kingdom and his Righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.’
