Genesis 3:11-13 New International Version (NIV)
11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”
12 The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”
13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”
The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
When we fail to heed God’s warning, there are consequences. Adam and Eve did not understand the reasons for God’s commands, so they chose to act in another way that they felt looked better to them. God’s commands are for our good. We may not always understand them or the reasons behind them, but we need to obey God. Obeying God will keep you out of troubles that you do not want to have to deal with. It is better to obey God because he asks you to. You may not understand why, but God’s boundaries are for your well being.
