Genesis 27:41 New International Version (NIV)
41 Esau held a grudge against Jacob because of the blessing his father had given him. He said to himself, “The days of mourning for my father are near; then I will kill my brother Jacob.”
Esau was angry at Jacob and forgot to see his own mistake and wrong doing in giving away his birthright in the first place. Esau blamed Jacob for his trouble, but really, he was responsible for his choice. Esau became jealous and was bound in dwelling on what he did not have. He had lost the valuable family blessing. Esau’s future changed in a moment. He reacted in anger and was going to kill Jacob. Have you lost something of great value? Have others conspired against you and succeeded? The first and most natural response is anger. But, you can control your feelings by recognizing the reaction for what it is. You need to pray for strength. You need to ask God for help to see the benefits that you already have. You are going to make mistakes in this life. We all make mistakes. Look for the opportunities present in bad situations. God always provides a way if you ask.
