Exodus 20:20 New International Version (NIV)
20 Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning.”
Many places in the Bible there is this statement, ‘Do not be afraid’. God never tries to scare you, but if he does show his power he is showing he is the true God. When we obey God, he makes his power available to us. God wants us to follow him out of love, not fear. When it says we are to fear God, that means we are to respect and honor him. He never wants to scare you or intimidate you into obeying or loving him. Perfect love expels all fear. Get to know God for who he is. Don’t try to make him into something that you are making him up to be. Read the Bible and get to know him and love him for who he is. He is our loving Father. Jesus showed us who God is, for Jesus was God in human form. How are you getting to know God?
