‘Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. ‘ Galatians 6:1-3
I would like to address the big “C” church today. An ever increasing symptom of what has become “2020” is an dramatic shift within our society from grace to scorn. I expect this in some degree from those of this world, but am seeing this more and more from those who profess Jesus Christ Lord and Savior. I’m not exempting myself from this statement, either. I have caught myself, or realized my shortness, contempt of judgment of others and that’s simply not acceptable. I’ve also seen a dramatic shift from involvement by those of the church. A distance, fear and apathy has crept in and taken hold. This is a first in the history of the body of Christ. Throughout the ages, the church has met the call for action in crisis. They’ve come with provision, support, compassion and grace. There has been a gradual decline in all of these areas over the past 20 years, but I’ve witnessed a rapid acceleration over these past 10 months. Where are you “church”!
So, my questions to you is what are you doing now that you wouldn’t have been doing 1 year ago? What aren’t you doing that would’ve been? What weren’t you doing before that you should have and should be now? What areas of conviction or growth, study, ministry, etc were you engaged or working on that you’ve allowed to fall by the way side? Ask yourself honestly these questions. Pray fervently and seek God’s direction on the actions you’re called for, ways to impact yours and other’s lives and to help steer the ship that is the big “C” back on course. Have a blessed weekend.
