12 The men of the outpost shouted to Jonathan and his armor-bearer, “Come up to us and we’ll teach you a lesson.”
So Jonathan said to his armor-bearer, “Climb up after me; the Lord has given them into the hand of Israel.”
Jonathan did not have the authority to lead the army into battle, but he could start a small fight with part of the army. When he did this, a panic arose in the Philistine army. Then, the Hebrews who had been drafted into the Philistine army revolted against the Philistines. When all of this was happening, the men hiding in the hills regained their courage and came to fight. Are you facing a situation that is beyond your control? Take time to vent your concerns to God. Talk with him about it. Then look at the steps you could take to work toward a solution. You may just need to take a few small steps in a direction that will cause a chain reaction to lead up to a solution and victory.
