3 The fighting grew fierce around Saul, and when the archers overtook him, they wounded him critically.
4 Saul said to his armor-bearer, “Draw your sword and run me through, or these uncircumcised fellows will come and run me through and abuse me.”
But his armor-bearer was terrified and would not do it; so Saul took his own sword and fell on it.
Saul’s armor bearer faced a moral dilemma. Should he follow the order to kill his master. He knew he should obey, but he knew murder was wrong. He did not follow that order. There is a difference in following an order in which you do not agree with and following an order that is wrong. Know that it is never right to carry out an order that is wrong no matter the consequences for not carrying out that wrong order. How do you know what choice you will make? Have the courage to follow God’s law over human orders or commands.
