This past week I’ve been doing a lot of work deconstructing a wooden deck, tearing our and replacing fencing and taking down trees. That all doesn’t sound too complicated, but it has taken a toll on my body, as I have been prying, lifting, hammering, hauling, and doing other things my body is not used to. Thankfully, I have not sustained any serious injuries, but most every muscle in my body is sore. It is a good reminder that I am still alive, but am not as young as I used to be. It is also a reminder that each day, I am not that far away from getting hurt, and that I should not take any day for granted. What things work to remind you that you are alive today because God sustains you and allows you to be here?
Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. Isaiah 46:4
You don’t have to look far to see that each day there are babies being born and people passing away. This continues and the population grows to 7.9 billion people here today. The generations cycle along without us barely even noticing. Though around 100 years from now, none of us will likely be around to see what is happening, or remember much of the 2 generations before us. But God will still be God, and people will know Him and the saving grace of Christ. We can be thankful of that, if nothing else, when we leave this life.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8
Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. Psalm 55:22
Yours in Christ,
Clark
