1 John 1:3-4 NIV We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete.
The apostle John’s words struck me recently. Witnessing is not born out of guilt or pressure; it is born out of joy. When Christ satisfies our souls, we do not need a script. We only need to testify to what we have seen and heard … how God has showed up in numerous situations.
What if we looked at evangelism as an overflow of our delight in Christ? Not a duty to perform or a requirement to check off our list. We do not share Jesus because we have to; we share Him because we get to. As we grow in our faith our joy in Him is too good to keep to ourselves and too wonderful to be quiet about!
As Christians, we can look at our role of sharing the Good News as being REJOICERS … not Recruiters. Brothers – let’s not look at our interactions with others as simply transactional; let’s share the joy we experience from our Heavenly Father who provides peace beyond our human understanding (Philippians 4:7).
