Scripture:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
Lesson:
After making the decision to ask Jesus into our lives, we must begin to seek His will in ALL our decisions. We need to get to know and understand Him and what He wants for our lives.
W: W-Will is to “Consciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christ’s care and control.” Principle 3
We exchange our will for His will. This is a choice we make daily-it won’t happen on its own.He desires a relationship with us.
I: Initial decision to accept Christ as our Lord and Savior is a one-time decision that you made during your recovery journey
Once you make this decision,
L: Look for God’s will in all our decisions. No matter how large or small
Sometimes we believe that God only cares about the big-picture things, but God’s will extends to ALL areas or our lives. We need to seek Him in every decision.
L: Listen and pray for God’s will prior to making our decisions. Share them with our accountability team before making any decisions.
Before you make a decision based on your feelings, pause and ask God for guidance. He will show you what to do.These people have the ability to look into our lives and see things we may not notice on our own.
Application:
Over the years, I have definitely struggled with trying to do things my way instead of seeking God’s will. I would always seek Him in the hard things, but to seek Him in everything was a lot to ask! To be
totally honest, I can still struggle with this today, especially when I have a plan in my head of how I think things should go in my life. However, the more I turn everything over to God’s will, the more at peace I feel in every situation and the fewer regrets I have about making quick decisions based on emotions. God is good at being God, and I can put my faith and trust in Him!
Take a moment to reflect: Before making your next decision, what step can you take to pause, pray, and listen for God’s direction rather than acting on emotion?
