27 Then they took what Micah had made, and his priest, and went on to Laish, against a people at peace and secure. They attacked them with the sword and burned down their city. 28 There was no one to rescue them because they lived a long way from Sidon and had no relationship with anyone else. The city was in a valley near Beth Rehob.
The Danites rebuilt the city and settled there.
The tribe of Dan did not have the right to kill the citizens of Laish. They did not fall under that judgement and Laish was not within Dan’s boundaries. They were peaceful. The tribe of Dan was not regarding God’s law and had wandered away from God. The actions of the tribe of Dan were not right. They had fallen into idolatry, and God was not guiding them. Many times people will justify wrong actions by success in thinking that wealth, popularity, or prosperity indicate God’s blessing. Evil and earthly success can go hand in hand. Success does not indicate God’s approval. Actions speak louder than words. Do not let success indicate that what you are doing is pleasing to God. Make sure that no matter what, your actions are right with God.
