Numbers 14:6-10 New International Version (NIV)

Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had explored the land, tore their clothes and said to the entire Israelite assembly, “The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them.”

10 But the whole assembly talked about stoning them. Then the glory of the Lord appeared at the tent of meeting to all the Israelites.

Joshua and Caleb were wise and encouraged the people to act on God’s promise. They encouraged the people to move into the Promised Land. The people rejected their advice. They even talked of stoning them. When you are given advice, try not to be too quick to reject it if you do not like it. Many times we quickly take advice that we like to hear, but there are times when we get advice that causes us to stop and think. Evaluate it carefully and compare advice to the teaching in God’s Word. The message may be God’s message for you.
