Genesis 24:11-12 New International Version (NIV)
11 He had the camels kneel down near the well outside the town; it was toward evening, the time the women go out to draw water.
12 Then he prayed, “Lord, God of my master Abraham, make me successful today, and show kindness to my master Abraham.
The well was the main source of water for an entire village. People had to walk long distances to get their water, and they would have to carry it home. Shepherds would come from fields to draw water for their animals. The well was a place to visit and meet people. Many people had to go to the well two times a day to get water for the household. Abrahams servant had a very important task ahead of him in finding a wife for Isaac, and he asked God for guidance. The servant knew that he would see many different people at the well, and he needed help. The servant had learned from watching Abraham. Know that your children and the people around you are watching. Work to be like Abraham by setting an example of faith in God and developing a relationship with Jesus. Ask God for guidance in all things, for this is pleasing to him. God wants to be a part of every part of your life.
