Genesis 12:1-3 New International Version (NIV)
The Call of Abram
12 The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.
2 “I will make you into a great nation,
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you.”
When God called Abram, he moved out in faith. God established a covenant with Abram and told him he would be the founder of a great nation. The nation would be blessed and the other nations of the world would be blessed through this nation that would come from Abram. Abram was to follow God and lead those who came in contact with him. Jesus would come through Abrams family tree. Christ was born to save humanity. Through Jesus Christ, people can have a personal relationship with God and be blessed.
