15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
The people of Israel had to decide whether they would obey God or not. God had proven he was trustworthy. He was not a man made object. God is our Living Creator and Father. The people of Israel were to choose what would control their lives. Would they slip into rebellion by worshiping man made objects, or would they hold true to the Living God? It can be easy to slip into rebellion. It can be a very slow process, and then all of a sudden you see it. You are making poor choices. What do you want to choose? Do you want to choose the ways and ideas of the world? Do you want to choose God’s way? The choice is yours to make. Will it be God or an imperfect substitute? When you choose to be controlled by God’s Spirit, reaffirm your choice daily. Read God’s Word. Find a godly friend or mentor. Attend church. Be a doer. Be active in your faith. You will find that God the Father is Trustworthy and Keeps his Promises.
